At night my children often beg me to read them a story. More often than I would like I am tired and I decline, but I know they will ante up and renegotiate: “Well then, ok, don’t read us a story, make one up!” Now, I always enjoy a challenge and whether it is keeping the story short or putting together odd characters accepting the challenge to create anew is something I find hard to refuse.

The Mermaid and the Dragon

Once upon a time in the faraway magical land of Wachimacallit, there lived a mermaid called Susana who was best friends with a Dragon called Pedro. Many locals thought this was a strange friendship but they did not care. She would swim to the water’s edge and meet up with Pedro every Wednesday and Friday in the late afternoon

Pedro and Susana .loved telling jokes,.One day Pedro cracked up ad accidentally buried the mermaids hair, She gets mad and he promises to change. So they stopped tell’s jokes
